Deep Blue View News:
Tweetie got the message. She gave up here building activities inside the Villa. It is amazing how nice it is when you don’t have to duck anymore to prevent being flown into. She did move back into her nest outside again and behaves quite friendly lately. She even goes out to the garden when she needs to go instead of wiggling her ass out of the nest to just let go what ever she needed to let go. It is as if we have a house-trained bird now! We have decided she can stay and I started to look into chicken recipes again.
The weather is extremely nice for the time of the year. We could use a little more rain but that is mainly just me being somewhat lazy because I don’t have to water the gardens then. That watering part get’s awfully in the way of my Amstel moment at the end of the afternoon….. Not nice! Also my daily walk with the dogs is at about the same time so I have to make choices every now and then. I can tell you that, mainly due to the influence of the muffin-which, the garden and the dogs are quite happy lately and my fridge has a ridiculous supply of cold beers stocked for no reason. Tomorrow we have our BBQ night again and Saturday we do not have any early arrivals so I might attack the fridge tomorrow in the afternoon…..
The hurricane season is remarkably calm this year. The water is “only” 82F which may have something to do with the low numbers of storms in the neighborhood. The visibility is great, about 80Ft, and the fish life seem to enjoy it a lot as well that all is nice and calm out there. Lot’s of juvenile’s we have again starting to explore the reefs nowadays which is a sign to me that all is well down there. No passing by storms or hurricanes also mean nice and calm waters. No storm surge so no stirred up sand in the shallows and it is a lot easier walking in and out without the waves rolling in.
Over the last few weeks we had all kinds of interesting experiences at my office; Drifting to Curacao (in daytime as well as at night), anchoring on Klein Bonaire and being towed in and being towed to the boat warf. Sadly these new experiences, added up to the previous ones, have made the upcoming retirement of the best engine in the industry (whhahaha), scheduled for January 15, happen the day before yesterday. No big party, no touching speeches and no tears I can assure you. A feeling of relieve. Pffeewww….. nobody got hurt and we all had some good laughs about this disaster thing over the last 2 years, but my Evinrude days are over. Forever! I am currently looking into a replacement engine but that is not that easy on a small island, so I started to look on Curacao as well. Meanwhile Peter offered us to help out so we will definitely be able to offer all the boat dives we need and want to offer. I just can’t wait for the arrival of our new boat. I know some of you out there like to know the name by now and I agree that is was kind of mean not to mention it in the previous news letter. I am sorry (not). The name of our new boat is “Me Jadato” and yes, we will officially sacrifice a bottle of Champagne and do the rituals we supposed to do to prevent another spell on our boat. I have learned my lesson!!!
That’s all for now. Stay warm up there or, even better, come down south.
