Deep Blue View News:

Wednesday, January 27 at 4:05 pm the Dona Louisa arrived from Curacao filled with containers and one boat. Our boat!! Me Jadato has arrived safely on Bonaire!!! It (??) arrived on a cradle so we had to arrange for a crane to be available on the pier to lift it off. After a quick check it was put in the water right away and we parked it in the harbour Village Marina. Now it was ready for a thorough inspection and for a proper cleaning…. Aiaiaiai, did it arrive dirty! As if somebody tried to paint it black….

We were also very curious about our contraband. Our water pressurizing pump at DBV broke down and we bought a new one in the USA. It arrived safe and sound, that is the good news…. Sadly when installing it here our electrician “forgot” that a USA electrical pump runs on 110V….. Ours here used 220V….. Oops…. We are ready again for a new pump…… Sigh!!!!

The new ceiling fans for the guestrooms made it too. One is already installed in the Damselfishroom. Looks very pretty and actually works……. The others will be replaced soon….The bones we bought for our dogs made it as well. Happy dogs again at the start of each BBQ night…..

After about 2 days of scrubbing and cleaning we were ready for the first sea-trail in the Caribbean Sea. The guests staying that week even volunteered as guinea pigs and I gladly accepted that offer. I thought it went pretty well and we even brought back everybody. That was kind of hard for me since during that first trip (we went snorkelling) I realized we did not have any tanks on the boat…… People walk around you know, so counting is challenging for somebody like me…… The next day we played it safe and went diving. Our first 2-tanker dive-trip! This past week things went a lot smoother already. Even the parking upon return in the Marina looks as if I did that before. Of course I couldn’t do that all without the help of a volunteer “deck-hand”. Thanks Scott for last week and thanks Ty for this week.

The plan is “baptise” Me Jadato officially coming Thursday. Before we go out on our weekly sunsettrip we will sacrifice a bottle of Champagne to make it all official. Sea-trails and training runs are over now, it’s time for action!. Maybe next week we will do our first 3-tanker to the dive sites in the Park (Washington Slagbaai). We’ll see. The wind has to slow down a bit to make the ride a little more comfortable on the way back. The winds where pretty extreme over the last 2 weeks, we had days with 25 knots of wind or more!!!I  will also make some pictures and include those in the diving/snorkelling section of our website, so you have a better idea what she/he (??) actually looks like. I still don’t know what Me Jadato actually is. A He, a she or an it. Sofar it looks as if all 3 options work just fine depending on the circumstances used; SHE comes (way too) expensive; Cleaning IT was a lot of work and HE looks beautiful.

That’s all for now. Stay warm up there or, even better, come down here….:-)
